Blue Bomber returns..
So if you have not heard, Mega Man 9 was released to all three major consoles this week. I downloaded it on my Wii, as I had some leftover Wii points, and all I can say is that after 20 some years of playing video games, learning how to play video games on platformers such as Mega Man, Mario, and Sonic, that I still absolutely positively without a shadow of a doubt still unbelievably suck.
This game is just plain old hard folks. This is one of the few times in my life where I wanted to throw a controller at the television, something my wife is very experienced in doing! Most games that elicit that type of reaction are usually pretty bad games. Most of the heartache comes from a bad camera angle or something that tells the gamer that the enemies on the screen have some sort of advantage that a gamer cannot overcome.
Mega Man 9 is different though. It’s very difficult yes, and makes me want to throw things around, sure. However, it does it in a good way. It taunts you! You know you can make the jump, you know you can get through that part of the level, but it’s always a well timed enemy or a bad jump that always gets you. It’s a very difficult game that is fun to play, and frustrating in a good way.
I highly recommend it, even though I probably won’t be able to get through the game. The first robot master I completed was Galaxy Man, simply because that was the only level I could get more than halfway through!
Case in point, here is a video of Concrete Man’s stage. See the third elephant? Yeah, I can’t get past that without just rushing it and taking 80% damage…

Go ahead and get it folks, and may jump from platform to platform without getting hit by a robot from the bottom of the screen.
